TECH TIPS   by   Dave Clayton

Your Source for Technical Information

Thermo Expansion Valves

1. When changing the cage assembly match the spring tension from the old cage assembly to the new cage assembly. This should position the new cage close to the old cage adjustment.

2. Oil soak all the gaskets on the cage assembly with refrigeration oil before reassembly.

3. Tighten the power assembly to body hold-down bolts evenly and torque to the manufacturer's specifications. Alco recommends 300 inch-pounds.

These technical tips are for use by qualified maintenance personnel who are familiar with their specific freeze drying equipment. These tips are intended only as general guidelines. Lyophilization equipment is frequently custom configured and some tips may not be appropriate for all freeze dryers. Always read and follow the directions of your equipment's maintenance manual. If you would like to discuss one of our tech tips, please contact Dave at 215-672-7800 ext-1376.
